Great Britain and Italy qualify fastest in team pursuit
Great Britain’s men and Italy’s women qualified fastest during team pursuit qualification for the Tissot UCI Track Cycling World Cup in Glasgow.
The Great Britain quartet of Kian Emadi, Mark Stewart, Andy Tennant and Ollie Wood powered through the 16 laps of the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow in 3:58.169 to set up a first round tie with Poland who qualified fourth fastest in a time of 4:03.018.
Newly-crowned European champions France put down the second quickest time of the evening, completing their 4000 m in a time of 3:59.481 and will race Canada in Friday’s first round.
Italy’s women qualified fastest, the quartet of Simona Frapporti, Elisa Balsamo, Maria Giulia Confalonieri and Francesca Pattaro setting a time of 4:24.566. They will face France, who qualified fourth fastest in a time of 4:30.276, in Friday’s first round.
The Great Britain team of Ellie Dickinson, Dannielle Khan, Manon Lloyd and Emily Nelson qualified second fastest in a time of 4:28.744 and will face third-place finishers Poland in the first round (4:29.114).
